GSC Analytics
Google Search Console integration is the foundation of SearchVector's analytics capabilities. This feature lets you connect your GSC account and gain deeper insights into your search performance without leaving the platform.
Connecting Google Search Console
To get started, you'll need to authorize SearchVector to access your Google Search Console data via OAuth.
- Navigate to Integrations → Google Search Console
- Click Connect GSC Account
- You'll be redirected to Google's authorization screen
- Select the properties you want to track
- Grant SearchVector permission to read GSC data
- Return to SearchVector and confirm the connection
SearchVector reads GSC data without modifying your account or Google properties. OAuth ensures secure, token-based access that you can revoke anytime.
Search Performance Metrics
Once connected, you'll have access to comprehensive search metrics:
| Metric | Description | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | Times your content appeared in search results | Measure search visibility |
| Clicks | Actual clicks from search results to your site | Track traffic potential |
| CTR | Click-through rate (clicks ÷ impressions) | Optimize title/meta tags |
| Average Position | Average ranking position in SERPs | Identify improvement opportunities |
Real-time data synchronization keeps your metrics current. You can track changes as they happen and respond quickly to performance shifts.
Query Analysis and Filtering
SearchVector provides powerful filtering and analysis tools for your search queries:
- Filter by date range: Compare performance across different periods
- Sort by metrics: Order queries by impressions, clicks, CTR, or position
- Search query keywords: Find specific terms quickly
- Performance thresholds: Identify queries where you rank but don't get clicks
Use query analysis to discover which search terms drive your traffic and which ones need optimization.
Page-Level Performance
Analyze which pages generate the most search traffic:
- View impressions and clicks per page
- See which queries drive traffic to each URL
- Identify pages with high impressions but low CTR (optimization opportunity)
- Track page performance over time
This data helps you decide which pages to prioritize for content optimization and which ones are underperforming.
Index Coverage Monitoring
Stay informed about your site's indexing status:
- Indexed pages: Total pages Google has indexed
- Crawled pages: Pages Google discovered but hasn't indexed
- Excluded pages: Pages deliberately excluded from indexing
- Errors: Pages Google couldn't crawl or index
- Coverage trends: Monitor indexing changes over time
React quickly to indexing issues that could impact your search visibility. Regular monitoring prevents surprises.
Content Gap Identification
Discover opportunities for new content:
- Identify search queries your competitors rank for but you don't
- Find low-competition keywords with search demand
- Analyze query intent to create targeted content
- Prioritize gaps based on search volume and CTR potential
Use content gap analysis to inform your editorial calendar. Focus on queries that align with your business goals and current content strategy.
Date Range Comparison
Compare performance across different time periods:
- Select any two date ranges for comparison
- View metric changes (impressions, clicks, position)
- Identify seasonal trends
- Track impact of content updates or optimizations
This helps you measure the effectiveness of your SEO efforts over time.
Export Capabilities
Export your GSC data for external analysis:
- CSV export: Download raw data for spreadsheet analysis
- PDF reports: Generate professional reports for stakeholders
- Custom date ranges: Export specific time periods
- Metric selection: Choose which metrics to include
Exported data maintains all filters and sorting you've applied, making it easy to create custom analyses.
Tips for Using GSC Data Effectively
- Review weekly: Check your metrics at least weekly to catch trends early
- Monitor position 1-3: Keywords in positions 1-3 need protection; optimize them further
- Target position 11-20: Keywords here are close to page one; optimize for quick wins
- Analyze CTR: If position is good but CTR is low, test new titles and meta descriptions
- Combine with page data: Cross-reference query data with page performance to find optimization opportunities
- Create baseline metrics: Establish performance baselines to measure improvement
- Track seasonal patterns: Identify queries that spike during certain seasons and plan content accordingly
GSC data has a 2-3 day reporting lag. The metrics shown aren't real-time but are accurate once finalized.
